In 1987, I sealed a time capsule. It was an envelope, and set on an 18 year timer, to be opened in the far-away future of the 21st century when I was 30. The year: 2005.
In 1996 I turned 21. No time capsule action, but it was halfway between birth and this event, and by some cultural norms, I was officially and adult and stuff. Appropriately, I celebrated with some embarassingly badly designed (in html!) birthday invites! Anyway, moving on.

In 2005, at a party, this was opened and celebrated, and a new capsule was sealed. Contributions of my own and friends went into it, and as of writing, I have little recollection of anything specific I put in it, except I know I asked for written contributions on several notebooks - both collected in the months before the party, and at the party itself. This was set on a 12 year timer, in part to commemorate my original time capsule, and in part because it would open when I was 42. The Answer!
In 2017, I turned 42...
And so it will come to pass that in the year 2039, after more than two decades, the 2017 capsule shall be opened...
